Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 5, 2026

Little Tales of You makes personalized children's books. This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us process it, how long we keep it and what you can ask us to do. Questions and requests go to hello@littletalesofyou.com.

The short version. We ask for as little as we can. We don't sell your data or your child's data. A photo is never required. Nothing you give us is used to train AI.

This site is for adults

Our books are for children, but this site and our checkout are for parents, guardians and other adults buying a gift. We don't knowingly collect information directly from children. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.

What we collect

  • Waitlist signups: your email address, the page you signed up from, the hero selected in the preview and any campaign tags in the link you followed.
  • Book details, when you order: the child's first name, age and pronoun, the look and companion animal you choose, the names of family members you include in the story and the dedication you write. Please only share what you want printed in the book.
  • Order details, when you order: your email address, what you bought and, for a hardcover, the shipping name and address. Card details go directly to our checkout provider. We never see or store them.
  • Messages: anything you send us by email.
  • The optional photo: see the next section.

The name and look you type into the free preview on our home page stay in your browser. We don't receive them unless you place an order. This site doesn't currently use advertising or analytics cookies. Our web server keeps standard technical logs, such as IP address and page requested, for security. If we add analytics or advertising tools, we'll update this policy first.

The optional "Looks like them" photo

This add-on is optional and you can always order a book without it. It works like this:

  • Who can upload: only the child's parent or legal guardian, or an adult with their permission. Before uploading you'll be asked to confirm this and to give written consent to the processing described here.
  • Why we use it: only to draw your child's hero for your book. We never use it for marketing, and it is never used to train AI.
  • How it's processed: the photo is sent to Google's Gemini AI service, which generates the drawing, and a person on our team checks the result. We don't build a face template or use face recognition to identify anyone. Because a photo shows a child's face, we treat it as sensitive and as if biometric privacy laws, such as those in Illinois, Texas and Washington, apply to it.
  • Sharing: we don't sell, lease or trade the photo, and we don't profit from it apart from delivering the add-on you paid for. Google is the only outside service that receives it for this purpose, apart from the secure storage we use until it is deleted.
  • Retention and deletion: we permanently delete our copy within 30 days of upload, or sooner if you ask. Google states that it may keep content sent through its API, including images, for up to 55 days to detect policy violations and meet legal requirements, and that it doesn't use it to improve its products on paid plans. The drawing of the hero stays with your book details.
  • Changing your mind: email us at any time before the book is made and we'll delete the photo and refund the add-on.

How we use information

  • To make, deliver, re-make and support the books you order.
  • To send the waitlist email you asked for. Every marketing email lets you unsubscribe, and you can also just ask us.
  • To send order messages, handle refunds, prevent fraud and meet our legal and tax duties.

Who helps us

We share information only with the services that run the business, and only what each one needs:

  • Hosting and domain: Hostinger.
  • Waitlist: Make.com receives each signup and stores it in a Google Sheet.
  • AI image generation: Google, for the photo add-on.
  • Checkout: a checkout provider named on the payment page. It acts as the seller of record, handles payment, tax and invoices, and has its own privacy policy.
  • Printing and shipping, for hardcovers: our print partner and its carriers receive the book file and shipping address.
  • Email delivery: the service we use to send your book and our messages.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it or to protect our rights and our customers. If the business is ever sold, this policy continues to apply to the information transferred.

How long we keep it

  • Waitlist email: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
  • Book details: for 12 months after your order, so you can use the free re-make, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
  • Order and tax records: for as long as tax and accounting law requires, generally up to 7 years.
  • The photo: as described above.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to show you, correct or delete your information, or your child's, and to stop sending you marketing email. Depending on where you live, including California, other US states, the UK and the EU, you may have further rights, such as receiving a copy of your data, objecting to some uses and complaining to a data protection authority. We don't sell personal information or share it for cross-context advertising. Email hello@littletalesofyou.com and we'll answer within 30 days. We won't treat you differently for exercising your rights.

Where data is handled and how we protect it

Little Tales of You is run from Israel, and our service providers operate in several countries, including the United States and EU countries. Using our services means your information may be handled outside your own country, with the safeguards the law requires. We use encrypted connections and limit access to the people and services that need it. No system is perfectly secure, and we'll notify you of a breach where the law requires us to.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change materially affects information we already hold, we'll tell you before it applies.
